The Igoe & Grow Approach
Hello! My name is Jacinta Igoe, and I bring over 35 years of experience in education, having taught across all primary year levels before focusing on literacy intervention over the past seven years. Through one-on-one and small group sessions, I’ve had the privilege of helping children build the skills and confidence they need to progress and to thrive.
Based in Caloundra, Igoe & Grow offers personalised literacy support in a warm, friendly environment, and I look forward to getting to know your child and working together to grow confident readers and writers.
Personalised Support
Every child learns differently. Sessions are carefully tailored to each student's individual needs, focusing on building essential literacy skills such as phonics, reading fluency, spelling and comprehension.
Instruction is structured and explicit, allowing students to develop confidence while progessing at a pace that suits their learning needs.
Who I Support
I work with primary aged students who may benefit from additional literacy support with reading and writing beyond the classroom.
This includes children who:
-
are experiencing reading or spelling difficulties
-
need extra support to build literacy foundations
-
lack confidence in reading and writing
-
require structured intervention
Location & Session Times
Sessions are held in my home office in Caloundra, providing a calm and focused environment for learning.
Appointments are available before, during or after school, allowing for flexibility for families and homeschooling students.
At Igoe & Grow, I use highly regarded, evidence-based literacy programs that are particularly effective for children with dyslexia, dysgraphia, speech and language difficulties, as well as for students who require structured literacy instruction.
Programs used may include:
-
Sounds-Write - a highly structured phonics program that develops strong decoding, spelling and reading skills.
-
MultiLit - MiniLit and MacqLit - research-based literacy intervention programs designed to support struggling readers and improve literacy outcomes.
-
UFLI - an explicit and systematic phonics program that introduces students to the foundational reading skills necessary for proficient reading.
Parents are welcome to explore these programs through the links above to better understand the structured approach used during sessions.

Progress
Parents begin by completing the 'Get in Touch' form on the website. This allows me to learn a little about your child's story and their literacy needs.
I will then be in touch to discuss your child’s learning goals and determine the most suitable support options - no obligation at all.
At Igoe & Grow, we believe in timely support and using the right information to guide each child’s learning. Before beginning ongoing sessions, we meet for a 50-minute consult appointment to further share and discuss information and to complete a diagnostic literacy assessment to determine the best next step. Cost: FREE!!!! for a limited time. Normally $95
Again, you are not obligated to continue with the sessions.
Based on your child's story and the assessment, sessions are carefully tailored to support your child’s individual needs. I'll come to understand your child as a learner and the steps needed to support their learning journey.
A core part of the Igoe & Grow service is educating, equipping and supporting parents throughout their child's learning journey. If possible, I encourage parents to attend these sessions.
As students progress, they develop stronger skills along with increased confidence in their learning. Regular progress monitoring allows me to track growth, respond early to challenges, and ensure each child’s learning stays on the right path.
Regular communication with parents ensures you are kept informed about your child’s progress and development.

"Jacinta has been an exceptional literacy intervention teacher for my daughter. Through engaging lessons full of both laughter and focus, she has helped my daughter build strong literacy skills and a genuine sense of confidence. Jacinta uses evidence-based programs to ground her work, but her ability to tailor learning to meet my daughter's individual needs is what made the difference for us. She closely monitored engagement and progress, setting clear goals and adjusting her approach to ensure ongoing personal growth.
Jacinta's ability to build rapport and make my daughter feel happy and settled ensured she felt safe to make mistakes, ask questions and learn. My daughter loved every session with Jacinta, whose infectiously positive personality made her literacy sessions so enjoyable. We are incredibly grateful for the care, expertise and positive impact she has had on our daughter's learning journey. We were devestated when she moved to the Sunshine Coast!!"

Frequently Asked Questions
My child does not have a formal diagnosis or learning disability, can you still assist?
Yes! At times, children can require a period of intervention to assist in filling any gaps or key teachings they may have missed at school.
How do I know if my child needs intervention?
Many parents first notice that reading or spelling feels harder for their child than for others the same age. Signs can include guessing at words, avoiding reading, getting very tired or upset by homework, or making the same spelling mistakes again and again. This can lead to low confidence and poor self-esteem.
How frequently should my child participate?
I operate in line with the school Term calendar and recommend students attend once or twice weekly, depending on the level of support needed.
Additional sessions may be available during the school holiday period. Holiday periods are also used to make up for any missed sessions during the school term.
Do you provide sessions during school holiday time?
Am I allowed to join my child during the session?
Yes, parents are encouraged and welcome to attend; however, I understand this may not always be practical. At Igoe & Grow, educating, equipping, and empowering parents is at the heart of the support provided.
Do you provide online tutoring options?
At this stage, Zoom sessions are only available when your child is unable to attend in person due to illness, but is still well enough to participate.
How long will my child need support?
This varies depending on the level of difficulty and consistency of attendance. Some students attend for one or two terms, while others benefit from longer term support.
Are sessions claimable through NDIS?
If applicable, families can check whether literacy intervention is claimable under their child's NDIS plan.
